Sub-project I: Assessing and Supporting the Development of Language and Maths Competencies of Young Asylum Seekers Required to Attend a Vocational School
Sub-project II: Pathways into the Labour Market
This sub-project investigates the question of which factors facilitate a successful and sustainable integration of asylum seekers into the labour market and society. For epistemological and transformational activities in the Real-World Laboratory, research data foundations are created which are analysed by micro-econometric and quantitative methods. The results are to be made available to practitioners in the field as well as to interested members of the public. Another objective of this sub-project is to support up-and-coming researchers and to strengthen trans-disciplinary research in the Rhine-Neckar region.

Cross-sectional project: Civic Engagement and Trisectoral Governance
The cross-sectional project concerns the motivations behind civic engagement and the types of engagement undertaken by citizens as well as the associated organisations working in the fields of professional training and language proficiency, employability and social integration. Any trends and innovations will also be identified.
Of particular interest is how informal and formal actors in the civic community work together and how they cooperate with state, in particular municipal actors, as well as representatives from the private sector. In addition, the impact of such collaboration on usual forms and conceptions of local cooperation and governance will be investigated.
